DIY National School Counseling Week Photo Wall and Selfie Station with Editable Props #NSCW


One of the many hats I currently wear is Vice President of the Allegheny County School Counselors Association. In this role, I plan all of the professional development events for the 2024-25 school year. This consists of three all day professional development sessions. 

To add an interactive element to our ACSCA Winter Meeting and to promote National School Counseling Week, I got the idea to create a photo wall and selfie station. I have created photo stations at my school for other events like Open House and Start with Hello Week. I thought creating a National School Counseling Week themed Photo Wall and Selfie Station would be a fun way to engage participants and spread the word about National School Counseling Week!  


To make the National School Counseling Week Photo Wall and Selfie Station I used the following:
I printed all the National School Counseling Week Photo Props (Editable) on Astrobrights cardstock. I then cut them out and glued the jumbo craft sticks on the back with a hot glue gun. I let them dry overnight. 


At the event, I arranged the photo props on a table with a sign. I hung the photo wall backdrop on a nearby wall with the Frog tape.


School counselors were able to take a selfie or have someone take their picture in front of the photo backdrop. I encouraged them to share these photos on social media or with their district as a way of sharing information about National School Counseling Week and engaging in professional advocacy!

It was so exciting to see school counselors taking selfies and photos in front of the photo wall! 

I made the National School Counseling Week Photo Props editable so you could add your own messages for National School Counseling Week. You could also modify this and host a Photo Wall and Selfie Station Geared towards students.

Spring Mindfulness Bulletin Board with QR Codes

I created this colorful, interactive, spring bulletin board for our March & April PBIS theme, mindfulness. I made this bulletin board interactive for students by adding QR Codes with different mindfulness activities. Since most things need to be touch-less right now, I thought using QR Codes would be an easy way for students to access some mindfulness activities. If you are not familiar with QR Codes, QR stands for Quick Response. QR Codes are scannable with a smart device camera (iPad, tablet, or smart phone). you can easily make your own QR codes by using a QR Code generator. You can link the QR Code to a website or online document. When the user scans the QR Code they will be directed to the link. FREE Career Interest Games and Inventories on VA Career View

I have been searching for fun and interactive career activities to facilitate with students this year. I rediscovered  Virginia Career View , which has a wealth of computer based and printable career activities. I have used this website many times, but each time I visit I am surprised by how truly awesome this site is. In the K-5 Section of  Virginia Career View  there is an interactive game called  Career Town ! I used the  Career Town  game with some 5th grade students last year and they loved it. Career Town has three levels with different games to learn about jobs on each level.  The  Career Town  has an educators guide  for each "level' of the game.
